Cassava Multiplication Project: A Pillar for Nigeria’s Food Security

SAO Agro

At SAO Agro, we are at the center of combating food insecurity, boosting economic activities, and scaling agribusiness. And we are doing that through a groundbreaking cassava multiplication project. This initiative aims to plant 1 million stems of high-quality cassava across 35 hectares, fundamentally transforming the supply of planting material for the nation's most important staple crop.

Nigeria is the world's largest cassava producer, but its yields are low due to a lack of disease-free planting material. SAO Agro's project addresses this by:

  • Using superior, disease-resistant varieties.
  • Employing rapid multiplication techniques to produce a large volume of healthy stems.
  • Empowering smallholder farmers by providing them with the resources to achieve significantly higher yields.

This effort is not just about planting crops; it's a strategic move to increase farmer income, stimulate industrial growth, and ensure a stable food supply for millions of Nigerians.
