Development of 20,000 HA Oil Palm Plantation
SAO Agro
Ondo State Government
Ore, Ondo State, Nigeria
SAO Agro on this project partnered with the local community in Ore, Ondo state in the cultivation of oil palm on a vast range of 20,000 hectares. The project aligns with our vision to foster eco-friendly farming practices within local farming communities in Nigeria. This goal for us is beyond subsistence planting or cultivation. It extends into building a sustainable supply chain for oil palm seedlings by the use of high-yield oil palm seedlings(Malaysian-sourced) and healthy products which will ensure quality oil palm products in the hands of the consumer and in the long term, profit for farmers.
We currently support the healthy development of agricultural products by investing in extensive research and ensuring high outputs and yield of our oil palm seedlings and others. This is made possible by research-based improvements and a thriving nursery with a 50,000-100,000 capacity solar-powered nursery infrastructure which is set to expand to 150,000 capacity in the immediate future.
SAO Agro is working towards improving the extraction and production of oil palm to 160,000 tonnes of oil palm (8 t/hectare) and by extension, sustained employment of 100,000 farmers by 2025 which will enhance growth in Nigeria’s oil palm sector.
